Weiliang (William) Xie Defends Thesis July 6, 2012
William Xie with Thesis Chair, Dr. John Engelhardt (right) Weiliang (William) Xie successfully passed his Ph.D. examination on Friday, July 6, 2012, receiving his degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology. His thesis title was "Regulatorsof Airway Submucosal Gland Development and Function”. Members of his thesis committee were chair, John Engelhardt from the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology; Adam Dupuy, Jackie Bickenbach and Robert Cornell from the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology, and Michael Welsh from the Department of Internal Medicine. Dr. Xie’s research focused on dissecting mechanisms of repairing processes during airway injury and disease state such as cystic fibrosis. Dr. Xie received his B.S. in Pharmacology from Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine and an M.S. in Molecular Biology from Purdue University. Immediate future plans include postdoctoral training in Dr. Engelhardt's laboratory in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology. Congratulations Dr. Xie! |
